PLAYED AT DORKING ON THE 3RD MAY

In their preparation for the National U19 7's Competition at Cheltenam on the 11th May, Surrey U17's defeated the holders of the Southern County 7's - Kent, 19-5 in the Semi-finals. They then went on to defeat Gloucester 38-5 in the finals having previously lost to them in the pool stages. MARTIN F. TURNER - R.I.P.

It is with much sadness that we announce the death of one of Surrey Rugby's stalwarts. In addition to playing wing three-quarter for England in the late 50's, Martin served as President of the County for 2 separate terms of office. He was a Priveleged Member of the R.F.U. An Old Whitgiftian, he will be remembered for his huge wit, kindliness and generosity.

SURREY CUP - RESULTS

Congratulations to Sutton & Epsom on overcoming Chobham 14 points to 3 in a closely fought Incentive FM Surrey Cup Final last week at Imber Court.

The Shield was even closer with Kingston overcoming Old Emanuel by the narrow margin of 12 points to 9.

If you would like to see an array of photos from the above matches, then please go to www.scrumpix.co.uk and they are all there, courtesy once again of Lee Crabb.

The Bowl final between Merton and Old Glynonians was unfortunately weather-beaten and had to be postponed owing to the blanket of snow that fell midway through the morning. This match has been re-scheduled for Sunday 27th April (weather permitting!) at Imber Court kick-off 3pm. All are welcome and admission is free.

As part of the second stage of the Player Recruitment campaign (Go Play) the RFU have launched ‘Play On’ – a programme aimed at retaining players in the game. The surveys conducted as part of campaign research has identified key occasions in a persons ‘Rugby Journey’ where an individual is most likely to stop playing and leave the game. The RFU a launching a programme of Rugby Pathfinders to help address this leakage on the rugby journey.
